Getting Away With Murder: The Leeds Arts Council Presents auditions for Getting Away With Murder by Stephen Sondheim and George Furth. The esteemed and retired Dr. Conrad Bering has selected, out of countless applicants, several individuals for private as well as Group therapy. It seems this Pulitzer Prize-winning doctor might be writing another book and it further seems these patients might be his subjects. The group consists of Martin Chisholm, an ambitious political consultant; Dossie Lustig, an sensual restaurant hostess; the snob socialite Pamela Prideaux;... Vassili Laimorgos, a sly dealer in antiques and collectibles; the rich and arrogant real estate mogul Gregory Reed; a cop with a grudge, Dan Gerald; and Nam-Jun Vuong, a college instructor and resentful would-be administrator.

On this particular evening the members of the Group gather as usual in Dr. Bering's office only to discover that the doctor has been murdered. Who did it? And what do the appearances of a mysterious young man who killed a girl in Central Park have to do with what's going on? To call the police will subject them to reckless scandal, relentless investigation and turn them into fodder for the hungry media, so a collective decision is made to solve the murder themselves.

The Cast requires 7 men and 4 women. The show will run in October. It is directed by Cliff Keen Jr. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 205-641-0975.

Auditions are August 30 and 31st at 7pm at the LAC.

FEATURE FILM AUDITION

Co-Dependent Pictures announces auditions for Beats, a modern adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s “Tell-Tale Heart”.

Auditions will be held Saturday September 18, 2010 from 1-3pm at Fifth Avenue Antiques (2410 5th Avenue South), two blocks from WorkPlay Theatre and across the street from The Quest.

Director is casting the following roles:  Oliver (16-28), Evan (16-28), Jessica (16-28), Max (16-28), Detective Tamerlane (35+), Detective Dupin (35+).  All actors should bring a headshot and resume (if you do not have a headshot, we will have a photographer on hand) and be prepared to read from the script.

Beats centers around two roommates and lifelong best friends, Oliver and Evan.  Slowly, Oliver begins to imagine life without Evan and what benefits that might entail, so much so that he eventually begins plotting his murder.  Every night it becomes more and more difficult to not carry through with the sinister deed until, one night, his emotions get the better of him and he dispatches his friend.  This modernized re-telling of the classic Edgar Allan Poe story is one-parts horror, one-parts character study and all parts fun.

This film will be shot over several weekends in the Birmingham area.  Visit us online at www.setforstunfilms.com.  For more information, please contact the director of the film at beatsmovie@gmail.com.  This is non-paid but will definitely be a fun experience.
