Detailed
Narrative:
Jamie has
been a professional actor and director for over 25 years,
performing and teaching throughout the United States and Europe.
He was an Acting Research Fellow at the Yale School of Drama,
and he taught acting at the University of Texas and at Yale
University.
This is the
caliber of class sought out by amateur and professional actors
in major markets, where actors seek creative environments in
which they can learn, hone and exercise their craft. An actors’
gym – this will be a supportive and nurturing atmosphere where
you can stretch and grow without the pressure of performance. If
you are an experienced actor or if you have only imagined
yourself on stage or in film, this class is for you.
We will be
practicing a specific technique that Jamie learned at Yale
School of Drama, the foremost program for acting instruction in
the U.S. It cannot be found in any book. This easily applied
method is the most practical and effective he has ever
encountered.
Upon
enrollment, you will receive a welcome package containing a
volume of the selected plays of Anton Chekhov along with class
related materials. You are asked to choose two or three scenes
from the material that you would like to work on. The plays are:
The Seagull, Uncle Vanya, The Three Sisters,
The Cherry Orchard and Ivanov. They are simple to
read and any one of them can be read in an hour.
